Enith Friedman Berg, President of Program Initiation
Enith is a daughter, wife, mother. grandmother, sister, friend, and teacher. She lights up when her grandchildren call, when they want to play with her! She feels lucky to have been a teacher at their school, and to enjoy that wonderful window into their world while enriching hers.
Professionally, she enjoyed more than a twenty year career in public education. Her formal training was at CW Post College in Greenvale, NY. She earned degrees in elementary education, special education, and gifted education, graduating summa cum laude. She loved walking into her classroom each day and was driven to stretch the minds of the young people entrusted to her. She worked to promote their thinking through creative problem solving, never answering, and always probing. Her philosophy is when a student learns by thinking their self-esteem will rise.
In 2007, she was asked to create and implement a school enrichment program. Having played bridge in her college years, she used bridge to promote thinking, self-confidence, enhanced memory, and better inter-personal communication skills. Her students played through their lunch and recess periods, telling her that their brains hurt after playing bridge, but were better prepared for their regular classes because of it. She believes that bridge is an excellent tool for students of all ages and believes strongly in the School Bridge Leagues mission to bring together the school and bridge communities. Contact Enith |
